GadgetMan and smallmouth number 300. This fish was caught also, in Cache Bay.
Another 4+ smallmouth from Cache Bay. I believe this one was 4.3lbs, but I'm not sure. I know we caught a 4.1lb, 4.2lb, and a 4.3lb smallmouth that day.
Alan and Paul Coming out of Blackstone via the "Blackstone River"
Alan and Paul coming out of Blackstone...........Gee guys........it is getting awful late.....don't you think.
Another good picture of the moose on Slate Lake
Sunrise from First Bay Campsite
First Portage into Blackstone River from Blackstone Lake.
The ranger station at Cache Bay........notice how busy it looks, and we were there pretty early.
I just had to take a picture of the butterfly.
I think this was the largest smallmouth of the trip. I believe this is the 4.3lb smallmouth that was caught from Cache Bay.
Gadgetman with a pretty decent northern
GadgetMan and another nice Pike. According to the ugly datestamp, this was taken from Blackstone Lake.
Yes, even Gadgetman can manage to catch a smallmouth or 2.
GadgetMan at our First Bay campsite. This is the last day, before we broke camp, and headed back to the real world.
GadgetMan waiting for a tow at American Point.
Go on fish...........make my day.
A 4+ lb smallmouth bass from Cache Bay. This was 1 of 3 4+ lb smallies caught that day. We also caught many over 3+lbs and nearly 30 that were 2+ or better.
GeoFisher with a decent northern........decent for me, at least
Geo and the Quetico 18 on Saganagons Lake
GeoFisher at Silver Falls.
GeoFisher's first smallmouth of this trip. This was caught on Blackstone Lake.
Yes, we did actually catch some fish on this trip. This is GeoFisher with a pretty decent northern. I think this is from Blackstone Lake, but I'm not really too sure.
Moose picture from Slate Lake
Sunrise at First Bay
Take a look at this monster northern on Blackstone Lake. We really caught some huge fish there. I also missed a fish that we would talk about the entire trip. I still don't know what it was, but whatever it was, it was huge.
I don't think works can describe this.............This picture does not give the sunset justice. This was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever witnessed. Simply amazing. This was taken from the 1st Bay Campsite.
These are the rapids at Silver Falls if you were looking downriver.
This is another picture of the "Blackstone River" portage. I believe this is the second beaver dam.
Mini Base Camp at Saganagons. We would not stay very long here.
Another picture of Silver Falls.
Start of the Silver Falls portage from he Cache Bay Side. Just after the landing
The portage landing at Silver Falls. Look at the cloud just above the water......lets get closer so we can get a better look..........not.
Rapids at Silver Falls. This is what just about tipped us over when we were coming back from Blackstone Lake. Very Scary. We ended up with around 6 inches of water in the canoe. It was definitely no fun.
Silver Falls Portage. This is about 1/3 the way through the portage
The top of Silver Falls.
Another Silver Falls Picture
The Guys.......I'm the short guy.
This is the USS Natalie. I named our canoe the USS Natalie fir my youngest daughter Natalie because I was missing her on this trip. She had secretly put a small sticker picture of herself in my camera bag. If you look closely, you can see her in this picture.
Whitecaps on Saganaga. This does not look too bad, but believe me.....it was bad. Earl at Superior North had to pry my hands from the paddle. It was not a pretty site.
Another picture of the whitecaps on Saganaga Lake. This is taken from behind American Point. Look at the main lake, behind the canoes.......what a mess.
Windbound at American Point. Even though it is against the rules, it was not save to be navigating this water. There were nearly 30 people stuck here, some from the night before. It was complete and total chaos. Imagine 30 people, 5 groups on 1 small point.
Everyone has their favorite places to stop. This is always the place we stop for lunch on the way out. They have great food, and the best shakes in the universe.
