Boundary Waters/Quetico Trip for 2000

June 8th-21st, 2000
This trip was really the first trip that my group had taken that involved any real portaging.  We started on Saganaga, with a tow to American Point.  From American Point, we traveled through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bays, and portaged 5 rods to Zephyr.  Here we set up camp for 1 day.  The next morning we portaged 5 rods to Swamp lake, the made the 80 rod portage over Monument Portage into Cypress.  Here we set up a base camp.  We used this base camp for 3 days, making day trips along Ottertrack, and taking the 110 rod portage into Jasper lake for a hard day of smallmouth fishing.  Returning from Jasper, we decide to portage into Ester from Cypress.  This portage is an 80 rod portage that increases elevation 150-200 feet before reaching Ester.  From Ester, we made day trips into Ashdick, Hanson, Rabbit, Link, and Clam Lake.
