Boundary Waters/Quetico Spring Trip for 2002

June 15th-23rd, 2002
Final Thoughts:

This trip made me think real hard as to why I visit the Boundary Waters.  Sometimes I go to soak up one of the most spectacular places in the world.  Other times I go to get away from work.  Sometimes, I go just to reflect.  Most the time, I go just to kick some fish butt.

Every year, I have learned something different.  This year I learned how impatient I can really be.  I let my impatience create friction in our group.  I also learned that no matter how good you plan something, the plans can ALWAYS change.  Be flexible, and go with the flow.  It is not worth getting stressed out about something that you cannot control.  I also learned some things about my fishing buddies, and how competitive they really can be.  This goes for all of them, including myself.  I think the only way Gadgetman and Alan can really be happy is.............fishing together.  I think one would end up killing the other by the end of the week, but at least they'd die fishing........I just wonder which one would catch the last fish.

Will I ever visit the BWCA again with this group.........ABSOLUTELY.............Gadgetman has been my fishing partner for at least 3 years, and we fish regularly through the year in Kentucky and Indiana.  I also have spent a week in the BWCA with Alan, and would do that again.......ANYTIME.  Alan, like Gadgetman is a regular fishing partner in Indiana, and Kentucky.  Actually Gadgetman, Alan, and I quite often fish "3 from a boat" in Alan's boat.  I would also come back with Dan or Craig, although I don't believe Craig will ever be back, and if Dan did, I would definitely have to tone the fishing back a few notches.  Regarding Josh........I think josh is more my speed regarding ultimate fishing partners.  I think we both like to fish about the same amount of time, and could pass up even a PERFECT day to just veg out.  Not saying that I ever would.

There were some "Group Dynamics" issues, but all of these can be resolved, and in fact, most have.
